Former Manchester United star Wes Brown has been speaking about his old team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes after Portugal's Euro 2024 exit at the hands of France
Wes Brown has admitted that Bruno Fernandes will likely be "angry" after being substituted early in Portugal 's match against France.
Speaking on Reach's new Euro Thrash podcast - available on YouTube, Apple, and Spotify - Brown said: "There is a lot of respect in that team for Ronaldo." He recounted how Ronaldo took charge of a free-kick that wasn't even on his preferred side, simply because of his eagerness to score. "Yes, he wasn't playing particularly well, but I don't think the manager wanted that responsibility and the press that comes with it to take him off, that definitely would have come into it a little bit," Brown added.
"He missed a couple when I was with him at Man United in important games, so he has been there and done it. It's all about, will he step up again, but as any striker will tell you, it is your job," Brown said.
