Cristiano Ronaldo was prolific in the Champions League, especially during his Real Madrid days, but a European record he set was topped by Olympiakos star Ayoub El Kaabi
One of Cristiano Ronaldo 's European knockout scoring records was taken off him on Wednesday night as Olympiakos secured Europa Conference League glory.
That was a record he also held with Karim Benzema, who did so en route to Real's Champions League success in 2022, and Radamel Falcao who enjoyed a prolific year with Porto when they claimed the Europa League in 2011. The Morocco international has enjoyed a stellar tournament on an individual basis. He hit a hat-trick against Aston Villa in the first-leg of their semi-final and then backed up his Villa Park treble by scoring a brace in the return leg. It is worth noting that the Europa Conference League includes an extra knockout round than the Champions League - meaning El Kaabi had nine matches whilst Ronaldo only had seven.
He has said previously: "I'm 100% sure I won't return to any European club. I'm 38-years-old. European football has lost a lot of quality. The only valid one and still doing good is the Premier League. They're way ahead of all the other leagues."
