Empire Theatre stages a hilarious account of the case that gripped the country
The crowd at the Empire Theatre roared all the way through the Vardy vs Rooney: The Wagatha Christie Trial.
I'd never have thought all the drama from the Wagatha Christie trial would come out so well in around two hours of stage time, but the mix of courtroom drama and comedy makes perfect sense when you think about it, and is more than enjoyable in person.The more wordy but essential legal matter of the trial is danced over by two "commentators", who turn the boring bits into something hilarious.
Wayne Rooney, who made a brief appearance during the trial, of course made an appearance in the play. There were references to his time with the England and awkward conversations with Jamie Vardy during the 2016 Euros, but a message at the end by the Everton-supporting actor who played him made the crown roar.
