'Unexplored' aspects of the murders have been investigated

The serial killer dubbed Jack The Ripper may have committed his shocking crimes over a century ago, but different suspects and theories continue to come to light even today.

As a Freemason, and long-standing student of the Ripper mystery, Philip Davies, who lives in the Wirral, was first drawn into the involvement of Michael’s Maybrick's brother James, a former member of his own Masonic Chapter decades ago. "Then I started looking at the Maybrick case which involved the murder of James and his wife and then I started looking at Michael." Victorian celebrity, nationally acclaimed composer and baritone Michael Maybrick was first named in 2015 as the prime suspect in Bruce Robinson’s acclaimed book, They All Love Jack. Now.

Philip said: "The Maybrick family were born in Church Alley - it’s still there but totally different to how it was. Michael was a child prodigy and at the age of 15 he was the organist at St Peter's Church. Prior to the two cathedrals being built, St Peter's was the biggest church in Liverpool. Drawing on contemporary accounts, press reports and legal records to solve the riddle of the world’s longest cold case, Philip's work argues that Jack the Ripper was in fact a senior Freemason who concealed his identity in newly discovered anagrams of his own name and cryptic clues, decades before the invention of the crossword.
