A tourist who had been visiting Galway was rushed to hospital to be treated for significant injuries after they were hit by a van while cycling.
The man was reportedly thrown from his bike after the van passed him in the opposite direction, striking his rear wheel. A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a road traffic collision that occurred between a van and a cyclist in Spiddal, County Galway on Monday 22 July.”
