Hundreds of people who responded to our poll said they would like to see more regulations introduced for cyclists
Cyclists using the roads in the UK should be subject to the same regulations as car drivers, according to a poll.
More than 550 people took part in our poll and the results were pretty decisive. Three-quarters of respondents said cyclists should be insured and have number plates in the UK. Many said that cyclists should be treated like other road users. One reader said: "I think that is a great idea, they use the roads like the car drivers , they should have the same rules as us car drivers."Another reader said they'd like to see a requirement for cyclists to pass a test. She said: "Yes, Cyclists should have to be insured, yes, cyclists should have to pay some sort of road tax.
"Maybe that can be brought back in, as for a number plate, I can't see that ever working, but some form of licenced test, like the cbt test and road tax . We all use the road, so should pay for it."
