The gutted Nigeria international allowed himself a glance a his cock-a-hoop rivals and will store those images.
But the Rangers ace insists he can’t wait to march into next season after being fired up by the scenes of Celtic’s celebrations. The Ibrox hitman’s campaign ended early at Hampden as he was forced off at half-time with an ankle injury. The knock left him sitting helpless in the stands as Adam Idah pounced to ram home the Hoops’ last-minute winner and snatch the Scottish Cup for Brendan Rodgers ’ jubilant side.
Dessers insists Rangers must take the pain of losing out on the Premiership crown and the Cup and use that as fuel to fire next season’s efforts. “Yes, that’s it,” he said. “We have to turn things over in our favour. We’re on a good path but we’re not there yet. If you look at the balance at the end of the season we showed good things but we’re not there yet. We will go further along that path and I’m sure it will lead us to more trophies next season.
"But on the other hand the performance that we had on Saturday and the game plan that we had worked. It was good and that’s something to build on especially in these head-to-head games. Did we feel we finally had the beating of them? Yeah that’s it. We neutralised them well. We had our moments too. So as the game went on, in the second half especially, I felt it was growing. I was thinking that this was going to be the day when we turned everything around.
