The fire at D’Andrea banquet hall in Crystal Lake came just months after the business’ owners announced that they would be closing.

The fire came just months after the business’ owners announced that they would be closing. When the site went up in flames a week after its final event, people took to social media to reminisce about the banquet hall and wonder what started of the blaze. The fire broke out about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, and quickly spread through the structure — which had no fire sprinkler system — before the flames were brought under control about 5:15 a.m., the chief said. No one was inside, and on one was hurt.that Crystal Lake was like a second home, but they were retiring after more than 35 years, and the business would close Feb. 28.
“To those who came to work everyday we thank you,” the family said. “Your hard work and service has always been the secret to our success.
