BREAKING: Oliver Mailey has been jailed for life with a minimum of 16 years.
"On the night before November 27, you looked after Abel overnight. Mollie said he was unsettled but she woke to see you looking after him. You never behaved inappropriately in front of her.
"By 11:51 you messaged Mollie to tell her Abel had pooed. Over the next 8 minutes you tried to ring Mollie repeatedly and her friend Kayleigh. Even when Mollie screamed at you to call an ambulance you called Kayleigh before you did so. "At Manchester Children's Hospital, Mollie accused you of murdering Abel. The CCTV pictures show the raw emotion of a mother whose baby has been grievously injured by another. You were both arrested on suspicion of GBH and later murder. You lied in four interviews causing Mollie to remain on suspicion of murder until mid December 2021.
"None of the circumstances around Abel were unusual. He was not a particularly difficult child. He was a good sleeper and in a routine. There was nothing about his behaviour to drive you to your wits end. He cried more in the week before he died becuase you had injured him.
