Jason said: “Within six months I’d gone from losing my legs, my dignity and now my wife and my young kids, so I was in a really bad place,” He's now sharing his inspirational tale to encourage people to celebrate life.
DEFYING THE ODDS: Jason is now focused on discussing mental health and wellbeing
On January 3, 1993, while climbing a ladder at work, Jason slipped and fell to the ground. As he tried to sit up, he realised with sheer terror that he couldn't feel his legs.I thought drinking too much coffee caused my seizures - doctors told me I had a brain tumour Tragically, his struggles extended beyond his physical limitations. His marriage eventually fell apart, resulting in the painful separation from his children, Abbi, now 33, and Sam, now 31.Jason described feeling as if he was merely existing, going through the motions of life. He later ended up on life support following a"severe reaction to ecstasy tablets".
Jason has since dedicated himself to transformative work as an inspirational speaker, traveling worldwide to deliver impactful presentations and has been made an MBE for his contribution to health and safety. “Sometimes we always focus on the darkness, what we’ve lost, or what’s happened to us, the most horrendous things, but no matter how bad the situation is, there’s always a chink of light,” he said.
