Leeds United's Head of Medicine and Performance Rob Price has provided a detailed insight into Stuart Dallas' journey since the freak injury which has so far sidelined him for 16 months. The Whites' promotion hero fractured his femur in a collision with Jack Grealish in the heavy home defeat to Manchester City in April 2022.

This is the first time he's had other players around him, and that's a different intensity, it's a different feel, you've got different perceptions going on around you, so it's still a part of the process.
The concerns of United's medical staff were soon confirmed following x-rays at Leeds General Infirmary, and a seven-and-a-half hour surgery in London followed. Even at this stage, Dallas and Price were aware the recovery could take as long as two years, and an infection in his knee after Christmas last year affected their initial timescale.
"He's made steady progress, and I've got to give a lot of credit to the staff who have worked closely with him. It's still part of the process, and he's still got a bit of a way to go."
