Shelbourne are six points clear of Derry City at the top of the table, and nine points clear of champions Shamrock Rovers
Damien Duff is channelling Buddha by telling his table-topping Shelbourne players to think like league champions. Will Jarvis scored penalties in each half to down the reigning champs and open a six-point lead over Derry City and a nine-point advantage over the Hoops.
“How does it manifest? Wins always help. A last-minute winner on Monday, and then coming away to Rovers, the most difficult place in the country to win. Goalkeeper Conor Kearns played a key role in the opening goal as his booming kick out was used to good effect once again. “But Conor's right foot, the length of it, is an absolute weapon so we always set up to play long as well and if I was an attacking player I'd be looking to penetrate off it.
“There's a reason why he's on penalties. If he's any more laid back, he'd be on the deck. I couldn't think of anyone better to take it.”
