Dan Aykroyd and his wife of nearly four decades Donna Dixon have amicably split up, the couple announced on Friday.
The “Blues Brothers” star, 69, and Dixon remain legally married and maintain a “loving friendship,” the pair said. “After 39 years as a couple we are now on separate life paths. We remain legally married, co-parents, co-workers and business partners,” the pairAykroyd and Dixon, 64, got hitched in 1983 shortly after meeting on the set of the comedy “Doctor Detroit” the same year. Aykroyd had previously been briefly engaged to the late Carrie Fisher.The couple starred in several films together including “Twilight Zone: The Movie” , “Spies Like Us” , “The Couch Trip” and “Exit to Eden” .
“You gotta find the right person — look them in the eye, have them look back, and know their soul,” Aykroyd said. “She’s a Southern woman who is understanding and doesn’t mind dealing with the boys from time to time.”
