She competed in 1969 singing ‘Look Around’ by Michael Reade. She came second to Muriel Day and ‘Wages of Love’, which was also written by Michael Reade. Who is Dana’s husband? Dana met her husband Damien Scallon in 1970 at his Ardmore Hotel in Newry. A reception took place there following a "Dana Place" street-naming ceremony in nearby Hilltown, to honour her recent Eurovision win.
Dana spoke about the experience in her RTE documentary, sharing: “It was scary, I would phone for him and he would be walking around the hotel, taking the bomb squad looking for the bombs.The couple teamed up to relaunch her career."The hotel was in ruins, it would have been rebuilt if you had not thought they would just bomb it again, so he had no heart for it anymore."
