Aishah Akorede, a former Miss Universe Ireland and Dancing With The Stars contestant, opens up about her favorite memories, music, books, movies, travel experiences, food, beauty products, friends, and life advice.
The eighth season of Dancing With The Stars is underway, with model and former Miss Universe Ireland Aishah Akorede among the famous faces taking to the dance floor to compete for the glitter ball trophy. She was crowned Miss Universe Ireland in 2023 and holds a Master of Laws in International Corporate Governance from Queen's University, Belfast.
And following on from her Miss Universe Ireland win, Aishah — who is currently pursuing a qualification in Chartered Governance — founded the non-profit social justice initiative, Recrowned Ireland, which strives to make a lasting impact on key societal concerns. The organisation works to create a safe space for women in Ireland who have suffered various forms of abuse, to feel comfortable, confident and aware. As the series continues tomorrow night on RTE One, Chic caught up with Aishah to find out about some of her favourite things in the world.... Aishah's favorite memory is the first time she held her little brother. She was only 10 years old, but that moment instilled in her a protective instinct that has shaped who she is today. Her favorite actor and actress is Dakota Fanning, whom she admires for her timeless performances. She considers Plantain Papi's performance at The Academy as her best gig, a sold-out show that celebrated their friendship and journey. Aishah's musical preferences are diverse, ranging from James Fortune's Live Through It, which helped her through a traumatic experience, to Ne-Yo's Miss Independent, which embodies her aspirations for strength and independence. Her favorite book is The Secret Life of Bees, a powerful and emotional story that stays with her long after reading. For movie entertainment, she recommends the Nollywood classic Pretty Liars, a hilarious and culturally significant film. Her best holiday was a trip to Jordan with her best friend, an unforgettable experience exploring historical sites. Aishah's culinary preferences lean towards spicy flavors, enjoying extra spicy spice bags and fried rice from Charlie's 3. Her favorite beauty product is hyaluronic acid, essential for maintaining her skin's moisture. Her best friend is Maryam, a lifelong companion and soulmate. The best advice she ever received is to lead a life centered around joy, finding gratitude even in challenging times
