Carl Mullan eyes up Late Late Show gig amid hopes Dancing With The Stars win opens up career opportunities
Dancing With The Stars winner Carl Mullan has said he hopes winning the show will lead to bigger and better things – as he eyes up The Late Late Show.Speaking afterwards, Carl said winning the show has given him a confidence boost in his own career.
“It was a long journey to get to the breakfast show and I think things really kicked off for me during lockdown and I suppose lockdown gave me the space to be a bit more creative..“Other opportunities came up – I presented Takeaway Titans last year, then this and I think it has really taught me that because things did happen so fast, a lot of the time, I would be the one standing at the back of the room saying I’m going to be found out.
RTE’s Director General Dee Forbes attended the final of the RTE One show on Sunday night – but Carl said he hasn’t expressed interest yet in hosting the chat show. “I’m honestly so happy for Emily, she did six seasons, and this was her third final. From day one, she said we could get all the way. I was close to having panic attacks learning the dances and my head dropped. She kept picking me back up, without her I would have either been kicked out or I would have quit.
“When I stood out there for the final everyone was so good. I had to block out the thoughts of winning and, truthfully, I would have been buzzing if anyone else won.”“I would be the first to say they’re incredible dancers and they were technically better than me for a lot of weeks. Don’t get me wrong, I was really happy with how I performed and there were weeks where we were as good as anyone in the competition.
“I don’t know if it gives you an advantage. If it gave you an advantage I don’t think you would be doing 10 hours of rehearsals every single day. I didn’t go into this thinking about winning, I just wanted to give the best performance possible. You don’t want to go on TV and make a show of yourself. We worked so hard.
