RSA warns of continued hazardous conditions despite lifting weather warnings. Road users urged to exercise extreme caution.

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) has warned that even after the current weather warnings are lifted, roads may remain dangerous and extreme caution is needed. A Status Orange snow and ice weather warning is in place until 8pm this evening for Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Wicklow and all of Munster. A Status Orange rain and snow warning is in place for Cork, Kerry and Waterford until 5pm today.

A Status Orange snow and ice warning is in place for Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Wicklow, Clare, Limerick and Tipperary until 5pm today. A Status Yellow snow and ice warning is in place for Cavan, Monaghan, Dublin, Kildare, Longford, Louth, Meath, Westmeath, Wexford, Galway and Roscommon until 5pm today. A Status Yellow snow and ice warning is in place for Cavan, Monaghan, all of Munster and all of Leinster from 5pm today until midnight on Monday. Meanwhile, a Status Yellow low temperature and ice warning for the whole country from 5pm today until 12 noon on Thursday. The RSA is urging all road users to exercise extreme caution as hazardous weather conditions continue to impact road safety nationwide. 'Even after weather warnings are lifted or lowered, roads in many areas will remain treacherous for days due to a dangerous combination of rain, sleet, snow, ice, and extremely low temperatures,' they warned. 'These conditions pose significant challenges to mitigation efforts such as sanding and gritting, requiring extra vigilance and care from all road users.' They strongly advise against unnecessary travel, and advise staying off the road network unless absolutely essential.
