Music fans were left shocked after Mark died in April, 2023 after a brief illness.

The Script 's Danny O’Donoghue has opened up about turning to booze to help him cope with the death of Mark Sheehan - admitting he still hasn't cried over his pal's passing.

“Also, people just want to show support, and they can’t help but bring it up and I get it. Just like my father; when my father passed away, I’d deal with it in my time, but this is something that I have to do in real time. It’s gonna be every day, probably for the rest of my life. “The 27th I said if I stay in Dublin much longer it will be so bad for me, so I cut it short and went home to the UK where I have my studio and where my girlfriend lives. I said ‘that’s it, that’s it, I’m finished. I’m finished drinking, I’m finished smoking, everything from 27th December’.

Reflecting on life with Mark as the band are busy promoting their new album Satellites, Danny said he always feels his presence. “But I feel like in today’s day and age, vulnerable is a massive asset and is a big shield that you can almost guard yourself; there’s nothing to hide behind.”“This year, because of Mark passing away, I’ve had this epiphany. I guess that last year when you’re talking about substances; I’ve never been into hard drugs at all, but alcohol was the big one, depression the massive one. After Mark passed away last year I called a therapist straight away.
