Elektra just confirmed that despite the many dangers she faced as an assassin, no-one is more dangerous to her than Matt Murdock. While Elektra has often pulled Matt towards darkness, he likewise pulls her toward the light, making her far more vulnerable.
The assassin Elektra has recently taken up the mantle of Daredevil in Woman Without Fear, a new Devil's Reign tie-in series written by Chip Zdarksy with art by Rafael De Latorre. A preview for the second issue of the series has been released, and it reveals the biggest threat facing Elektra. Contrary to what one might think, it is not a villain or any sort of weapon.
Zdarsky's recent run of Daredevil has seen Daredevil found guilty of manslaughter and sent to prison, though he does not have to reveal his secret identity of Matt Murdock. While he is in jail, Elektra sneaks in to request his help and tell him about a counter organization to the Hand known as the Fist. Matt tells her off and explains that she needs to prove that she is truly a good person before he'll help her.
Kraven the Hunter is the perfect villain for this reveal. His taunt is an attack on Elektra's new vow, as she knows that if she doesn't finish Kraven off here, he will hurt her later down the line. This is proven by his statement about hearts being at stake. It foreshadows that Kraven, as the predator, will draw out Elektra using Matt as bait. Of course, this can all be avoided if Elektra kills him, but then she will fail, and Matt will renounce her.
As a simple preview, this teases an exciting encounter between two infamous Marvel characters. But for fans who know the deep history between Elektra and Matt Murdock, this is a moment with several layers to it. Kraven might not know about her vow, but he knows about her relationship with Matt, and he will do whatever he can to claim his prize. To put it simply, Elektra's hands are tied because Matt Murdock is her greatest danger.
