Gardaí are investigating a data protection breach affecting around 8,000 Electric Ireland customers, whose financial and personal details may have been compromised.
An Garda Síochana is leading an investigation into the matter, and Electric Ireland is also liaising with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner. "Customers affected by this issue, who have experienced any fraudulent activity on their financial accounts in relation to data they gave to Electric Ireland, have been asked to contact the company directly.
