Data protection watchdog launches statutory inquiry into Google's Ad Exchange, willgoodbody reports |

The Data Protection Commission has begun a statutory inquiry into the processing of personal data by Google Ireland's Ad Exchange business.

It also said it had received a number of submissions on the subject from external parties, including Dr Johnny Ryan from Brave, the makers of an open source web browser and ad blocker. Since January, the DPC here has been the lead supervisory authority for Google in Europe, offering a so-called "One Stop Shop" for data protection regulation across the EU.
