David de Gea has not signed for another club since his departure from Manchester United in the summer and he could retire as he waits for the right opportunity to come
Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is considering a surprise retirement from football if he does not receive a proposal to become first-choice at a 'major' club.
If the proposal does not arrive, The Guardian claim that De Gea could retire and end his professional career - less than two months into the new season. The ex-Atletico Madrid shot-stopper is still keeping himself fit and is eager to move to a club that will compete for honours at the highest level. And in the aftermath of Onana's error, The Sun have reported that the United squad are furious with the way De Gea was treated upon his departure. The experienced goalkeeper was a popular member inside the dressing room and won the club's Player of the Year on four occasions.
