DCU struggled to find their scoring rhythm initially, falling behind after a four-point burst from Ulster University. Danny Magill, playing for Ulster University, delivered a stunning score from the left wing during this scoring flurry, leaving the northerners 0-5 to 0-1 ahead.
However, DCU gradually regained their composure, responding with four points of their own between the 22nd and 28th minutes. Ronan McCaffrey, who joined the Ulster University team alongside Eoin McElholm and Lorcan McGarrity, edged his team 0-6 to 0-5 ahead at half-time with a skillful left-wing score.The second half continued in a cautious manner, with both teams employing a counter-attacking strategy.
