She deserves so much better than this.
Our fave "villain" might have gone a bit soft in recent years, but Negan goes full barbaric inIt's just a shame thatitself decided to channel some of that cruelty towards someone far more innocent, a character who should have played an integral role in this spinoff.Negan's violent performance in the episode worked, freaking the actual shit out of his enemies, but shame kicked in when Negan realised that Maggie had been watching him channel old-school Negan the whole time too.
At one point in the premiere, Maggie asked Negan where Negan's family is, but he didn't answer the question. Instead he just looked down for a moment and quickly changed the subject. It's not until two episodes later that we finally discover where Annie's been this whole time, and it turns out that her absence is tied up with where Negan's story has been going this season.
"I don't think I even wanted to kill them," Negan admits in a heartfelt admission that's far more characteristic of the new Negan than the one Maggie still holds onto.
