A heartbroken mother has paid a moving tribute to her young son who died after becoming entangled in a rope swing while playing with friends.
An inquest into the incident this week heard how Riain, who lived with his dad Derek, had been visiting his mum Niamh in Whitwick, near Coalville.The incident occurred on Sunday, August 7 last year when he entered Holly Hayes Wood to play with friends, Leicester Mercury reports. While in the woods, the group of children played with a swing made from a blue cord wrapped around the branches of a tree.
The inquest, held at Leicester Town Hall on Wednesday, heard how Riain was discovered at around 7pm on the night of the incident and that after being brought down by his friends’ parents, CPR was performed by a number of people. Mum Niamh, who attended the hearing along with partner Bryan Jay, paid a touching tribute to her son.
