Jail term for mum who starved daughter reviewed
Debbie Leitch was left to die in her "squalid bedroom" in Blackpool, a court heard.Elaine Clarke, 49,after pleading guilty to gross negligence manslaughter after initially denying the offence.
The MP for Blackpool South said was "sickened" by the "awful abuse" Ms Leitch endured at the hands of "somebody who should have been there to look after and care for her". "The sentence imposed has been reviewed with the utmost care by the Solicitor General and he has decided to refer it to the Court of Appeal," she said.FacebookClarke had initially pleaded not guilty to the offence but changed her plea 10 days before she was due to stand trial at Preston Crown Court.
