The drop continues a trend spreading back to 2021
Spending on debit and credit cards among Bank of Ireland customers was down by 8 per cent in September compared to August, the bank has said. The drop follows similar falls in 2021 and 2022.
There was however one notable increase in spending as card spending by the bank’s customers in France for the month rose by 9 per cent, influenced by the thousands of rugby fans following the Ireland team in the World Cup.
