Hundreds of staff had worked from the site
The demolition of former Virgin Media office buildings is underway ahead of the construction of 82 houses and flats. The plan is to demolish the majority of the existing buildings at Diamond Plaza, off Daleside Road.
However, the company's technical hub, which houses technical equipment that supplies a large part of the East Midlands region with fibre optic broadband, is to be kept. A picture from the scene shows part of the structure which has been torn down, with the rest of the site blocked off by barriers. The redevelopment, which has been given the green light, will comprise of 40 one and two-bed apartments in four-storey pitched roof buildings to the south-west of the retained technical hub building, and 42 two and three-bed houses on the remainder of the site. Back in 2018, Virgin Media announced its plan to cut its Nottingham-based workforce under a shake-up of its regional customer operations hubs.
Up to 210 staff had worked at the Diamond Plaza offices between Sneinton and Colwick, but jobs were transferred and some staff relocated under the transition.
