The public are being reminded that the Department of Social Protection will never ask for your personal information via text message, and not to be hoodwinked by fraudsters

It comes as the third and final cost of living cash boost is set to be paid from tomorrow.

"These messages often ask customers to open a link and to provide personal information or verify details.The Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance provides a once-off payment to eligible families towards the cost of school clothing and footwear. The majority of payments will be paid automatically with no application form required. Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance will be paid automatically to more than 120,000 families in respect of approximately 210,000 children during the week beginning 10 July.
