Health Minister Simon Harris thanks emergency services for their diligence in responding to this afternoon's incident at the Department of Health
THE DEPARTMENT OF Health on Dublin’s Baggot St has reopened after being evacuated this afternoon.Minister for Health Simon Harris was inside at the time. The minister and all staff in the department were removed to safety. It’s understood the minister was not in the room when the envelope was opened.
Thank you to the emergency services for their diligence today in responding to an incident at my Department. The safety of staff must always be paramount. Today was a difficult day for them all and particularly those who work so closely with me in my officeFollowing the discovery, staff members exposed to the powder were told they have to be ‘cleaned’ and isolated, sources said.
