Derby County has appointed John Eustace as their new head coach in a bid to avoid relegation. Eustace leaves Blackburn Rovers, where he was manager, for the Championship club.
Derby County has officially announced the appointment of John Eustace as their new head coach. Eustace's arrival comes after Blackburn Rovers , where he was manager, made it clear they wanted him to stay until the end of the season. Eustace previously managed Birmingham City, guiding them to a sixth-place finish before leaving, and also had a successful stint at Queens Park Rangers, helping them avoid relegation.
Prior to his managerial roles, Eustace served under former Republic of Ireland manager Stephen Kenny for three months. His decision to join Derby comes as the club seeks to escape relegation, currently sitting in 21st place in the Sky Bet Championship. Derby recently terminated Paul Warne's contract and swiftly moved to secure Eustace, who enjoyed two spells as a player at Pride Park. David Clowes, owner of Derby, expressed his excitement about Eustace's return, stating: 'I'm thrilled that he shares our belief in the potential of Derby County and that he wants to play a leading role in our plans.' Clowes highlighted Eustace's track record of success, including avoiding relegation with Birmingham City and Queens Park Rangers, as well as leading Blackburn Rovers to a strong position in the league. He emphasized the importance of the fans' support in this crucial stage of the season, urging them to rally behind the team. Blackburn Rovers, in a statement, acknowledged their disappointment at Eustace's departure but understood his reasons for leaving, particularly his desire to be closer to his family and return to a former club. They remain optimistic about finishing the season strong despite his departure
