The well-known architect ended up in hospital and could have died if the issue wasn't identified - he has opened up about his experience and how it has changed his outlook on life

The architect felt unwell while on holiday with his family over the summer, but initially put it down to fatigue and stress.

After he returned from his holiday in Portugal, he was in pain again and was advised by his healthcare provider to go to hospital straight away. They did a blood test and CT scan and admitted him. It then turned out that he had a pulmonary embolism in both lungs. Initially, Dermot thought he had a broken rib but when he went to the hospital in Portugal they told him it was a lung infection - he wasn't surprised after having Covid a few weeks prior. The symptoms subsided, but returned when he came home to Ireland and he ended up in the hospital again.
