Dessie Farrell confirms Stephen Cluxton and other senior players are staying on with Dublin for 2020 DublinGAA GAA
Dessie Farrell has confirmed that Stephen Cluxton and the rest of Dublin's senior panel members will be remaining on for the Blues' bid for a sixth All-Ireland SFC title in a row.New Dubs boss Farrell addressed the media for the first time this morning at the HQ of sponsors AIG, and ahead of his first game in charge as Jim Gavin's successor - the O'Byrne Cup encounter with Longford at Pearse Park tomorrow.
"Look it, that's just the way it was and ideally you'd like some more time, and the season is upon us quite quickly," he said."We're well down the road. Obviously given the sudden nature of Jim's resignation over Christmas and the team and backroom team being away on holidays, there's still a few bits and pieces to put together.
"So I'm happy to take my time in making those decisions - but over the next few weeks we should have it finalised and it will be under constant review as ever.""And I don't mean to be awkward, but with the lads being away and everything else, I'd prefer to fill them in first rather than sort of announce it in public, without letting them know," he commented.
Farrell, though, is pleased that he hasn't lost Cluxton, nor any of the other veterans such as Kevin McManamon, Michael Darragh Macauley and Cian O'Sullivan."A lot of you would be aware that he's just after going through some surgery on his shoulder there, so that's going to take some time to recover and he needs the time to rehab that.
