Bungie is starting to hype up Destiny 2's season 17. What can we expect to see from it?
I mean yes, obviously Bungie employees are going to be jazzed about their own work, but I don’t know, it still gets me pretty excited for what’s to come, given that I remember similar Bungie-based hype on what was going to be arriving with Witch Queen, and that actually delivered.
Season 17 is more of a mystery, however, given how little we know about what’s coming, especially regarding its narrative. We know some building blocks. A new dungeon will arrive. Iron Banner is getting a big rework. But past that? The story seems like it could go in any number of directions. Will we directly build off the events of Witch Queen and the story will have something to do with Savathun’s corpse, her missing ghost and the pending arrival of the Witness? Will we take a detour and revisit unfinished storylines and learn what Calus is doing with the missing Leviathan? Will Ana Bray build Rasputin a body? Will Eramis get unfrozen? The possibilities are endless and really, there are not a lot of clues embedded in the game right now about what’s definitely coming next.
All of this adds up to the idea that yes, season 17 seems like it’s going to be one to look forward to. Given that past, post-expansion seasons have been Forge, Dawn and Chosen, I have some pretty high hopes about what’s to come.
