Heartbreaking - what a legend
Tributes have been made to a DJ and businessman with a ‘big heart’ who loved and supported the growth of his hometown and community.
His daughter, Grace Thind, said: “He was full of life and was a massive advocate for love, happiness, fun and Accrington, which he loved to see grow. He had a larger than life character and he loved socialising, music and sport."He always supported local pubs, restaurants and businesses by getting involved in sportsmen’s dinners, charity nights and events. He adored his family and he had such a big presence and love for everybody he came across.
The former Hollins Technology College student enjoyed 80s pop, soul and R&B music and never missed an opportunity to sing at a wedding or event. He enjoyed going to the Dunkenhalgh Gym where he made many friends who he would do charity challenges with such as the Yorkshire Three Peaks. Bob offered immense support to daughter Grace when she moved to Manchester and to his son, Oliver, when he opened his own Japanese street food restaurant, Red Buddha Bar and Restaurant in Accrington in 2019. He would dedicate his time to charitable causes and DJ’d for charity nights in local venues like The Victoria Pub and the Red Buddha Bar and Restaurant on a Mad Friday.
