Catalyst Urban Development LLC promises restart at Richardson apartment and retail project

The Belt & Main apartments and retail building under construction along Main Street in Richardson..Developers of a Richardson mixed-use project say work on the high-profile property will restart soon with a new construction team.

The Belt & Main apartment and retail project is hard to miss on Richardson’s Main Street near U.S. Highway 75.The five-story building is going up on what used to be a parking lot next to the Chase Bank building.The development will include 350 apartments above about 15,000 square feet of retail.Paris Rutherford, principal with builder Catalyst Urban Development LLC, said work is about to resume on Belt & Main after a change in construction firms.

“We’ll be back rocking and rolling very shortly,” Rutherford said in an email. He said with a new construction head, “progress can get moving again quickly.”Start of the project was delayed during the early days of the pandemic. The development is on about 14 acres between the bank tower and DART’s commuter rail line. A second phase of the project is planned to include townhomes.Richardson also provided financial incentives for the Main Street project.The Belt & Main development on Richardson's Main Street will include apartments and retail.
