Diablo 4 players plead for more build diversity as meta steadily becomes stale DiabloIV Diablo4 Blizzard Diablo

Diablo 4 continues its reign as the bestselling entry in the Blizzard series to date, but it seems that some still aren’t quite satisfied with what it has to offer as a few fans are now pleading with the developers for more build variety that’ll allow them to experiment with a combination of different skills.

With the current in-game meta now largely having been established, it’s become clear that there are only a finite number of abilities that can truly be viable in Diablo 4’s endgame. Most of the skills you need to use in order to successfully clear high tierare typically those that apply the Vulnerable debuff to enemies, which means you’re essentially stuck running the same set of talents repeatedly.

For this reason, some people have now taken to social media sites like Reddit in an effort to bring more attention to this issue. A user namedeven created a thread saying “D4 needs to have more build variety outside of Core skills,” after which they noted that the game doesn’t present “nearly enough options” to players. In their message, they would go on to compare the current skill offerings of Diablo 4 with its predecessors in D2 and D3 and the differences are somewhat significant.

According to the post creator’s statements, the Sorcerer in Diablo 2 apparently had “20 skills that could be used as a primary source of damage” while the same class in D3 had approximately eight primary damage-dealing skills. In contrast, Diablo 4’s Sorcerer only has a total of six core skills, “some of which are not viable due to balancing,” leaving players with very little choice but to run the same abilities again.

Most of the people commenting under the thread agreed with the poster’s sentiment with one user saying that “the core mechanics of the game are great but god damnit we need more.” “I’ve been pressing Twisting Blades on my Rogue since level 5,” they continued.
