Drinks giant Diageo has refuted reports that it is considering selling off its iconic Guinness brand or its stake in Moet Hennessy. The company issued a statement to clarify the situation after a Bloomberg report fueled speculation about a possible sell-off. Diageo stated it has no intention to sell either brand and will provide further updates on February 4th.

The drinks giant also rejected claims that its stake in Moet Hennessy could be put up for sale.

But yesterday the drinks conglomerate insisted Guinness is not for sale. It said: “We note the recent media speculation around the Guinness brand and our stake in Moet Hennessy and we can confirm that we have no intention to sell either. Unlike the spirit market which has been in the doldrums in recent years with sales markedly down, sales of the Black Stuff are booming.

The company has already reportedly looked at the potential sale of its Pimms liqueur and Ciroc vodka brands over the past year.
