We chat with MaybeIDo star Diane Keaton about BoyMeetsWorld creator Michael Jacobs' directing style and her experience reuniting with LookingForMrGoodbar co-star Richard Gere:
Maybe I Do is a new multi-generational romantic comedy written and directed by Michael Jacobs, who brought audiences Boy Meets World, My Two Dads, and Charles in Charge. Jacobs' feature directorial debut features a powerhouse cast with Diane Keaton, Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, William H. Macy, Emma Roberts, and Luke Bracey. Maybe I Do looks at love, happiness, and marriage through six very different experiences and perspectives.
Diane Keaton: He's so great. He couldn't have been better. On that first night when we were shooting, it was freezing cold, horrible, and I had to take this long walk. And it was like, "Oh my God." But what was great about him was that he made not a big deal out of it. He was fantastic. We were all just doing this together. And so when you have somebody like that who's your director, you're blessed. Okay? And I think he blessed us. That's the way I feel about him.
I was talking to Emma and Luke a little bit about Michael, and they were saying that it almost felt like an actor's workshop the way that you worked. Can you talk about that a little bit, about that experience working with him? Diane Keaton: I had a crush on him. He never cared for me. Sad thing. I never got to go out on a date with him. Diane Keaton: Yeah. It's a little different. Yeah. He's fine, but I'm a nutcase.
