'I don’t see anybody coming next or near close to him and why I say that is not what he’s doing offensively for Dublin, it’s what he’s doing as a whole for Dublin.'

Diarmuid Connolly says Con O’Callaghan is the ultimate team player as he labelled his former Dublin teammate “the best footballer in Ireland right now”.

But Connolly said: “Con O’Callaghan, for me, is the best footballer in Ireland right now, currently, and I don’t see anybody coming next or near close to him and why I say that is not what he’s doing offensively for Dublin, it’s what he’s doing as a whole for Dublin. “That’s why I have him, I’m not saying streets ahead of everybody else, I’m not saying he’s more silky than David Clifford at kicking scores, I’m not saying he’s as good as Shane Walsh at kicking balls off his left foot or anything like that, I’m saying his whole performance for Dublin, what Con O’Callaghan does defensive and offensive performance for Dublin, he’s the best player in the country. That’s just my opinion.

“We seen the interview Cormac Costello gave after the game last weekend, that’s what he went back to. “Whereas I watch David Clifford - David Clifford rarely goes past the 45 for Kerry tracking back a man.
