'Nothing that a bit of make-up and concealer can’t cover at this point,' said the sprint hurdler of her recent nasty fall in Doha
Sarah Lavin 's growth as an athlete over two years means that another fifth place finish in next week's European Championships would not satisfy her.
"In some ways would I be as happy with it this time around? No, and that's the bottom line. I'm a very different athlete than I was two years ago. Lavin ran a 12.73 PB in Doha earlier this month to kickstart a pivotal outdoor season that will peak in Paris for the Olympics. “Yeah, it was a bit of a nasty one but I think the face took the brunt of it and nothing that a bit of make-up and concealer can’t cover at this point," Lavin smiled.“I was very lucky to come out with no injuries and fairly unscathed, thank God. It was good to get back out, I raced four or five days later.
"Even though the fall didn’t happen over the hurdles you just need to get back onto the horse as soon as possible. It was good to get through that. I was fairly lucky." “No athlete should come on here and tell you that they shouldn’t want a medal. We want to medal for ourselves, for our coaches, for our families, for all of the Irish contingent that have been absolutely incredible.
