Dr David Robert Grimes said that 'far right' might not be the best label for some of the people who have been protesting in recent months, including outside the Dáil.
Around a quarter of people have “ideological traits” that make them more vulnerable to believing in conspiracy theories, according to a leading disinformation writer.
“About a quarter of the country, in any country in Western Europe, are susceptible to conspiratorial ideation,” Dr Grimes explained. “The thing about conspiracy theories is they give you a very black-and-white, us versus them narrative. There's no complexities; It is a simple good versus evil story. “A lot of the population are intuitive thinkers and the problem with intuitive thinking is it's usually inaccurate and it's very easily manipulated.
This tendency to believe in one conspiracy means that the current protestors have been protesting things for years.
