Shaun McCaig, 25, ploughed into the back of Derek Miller’s Volkswagen Golf in Glasgow’s Polmadie on November 5 2021.
McCaig, of Tannochside, South Lanarkshire, had recently finished a driving ban before committing the crash on the M74.The manoeuvre caused other vehicles to undertake McCaig.Prosecutor Nicholas Konotpate said: “McCaig collided into the rear of Mr Miller. “The force of the impact forced the dog into the centre console and the vehicle came to a stop 100 metres from McCaig.Police heading elsewhere noted the collision site.
Mr Konopate said: “They saw the Golf which was on its roof and spoke to Miller who said they were on the middle lane and hit to the rear and the vehicle had rolled.”His lawyer told the court: “Mr McCaig accepts full responsibility for the offence.Sheriff Kevin McCarron disqualified McCaig from driving for two-and-a-half years.The sheriff said: “Your driving was outrageous and what you did was a risk to the public as well as yourself.
