The owner of the dogs has been arrested and is facing criminal charges, Texas authorities say.
FRESNO, Texas — A man is being held in jail after seven of his dogs attacked and killed a 71-year-old man who was walking to the store, authorities say.
The attack by the dogs occurred at about 1:30 p.m. on July 18, authorities say. Freddy Garcia was walking to a neighborhood store when the dogs, which the sheriff’s office says all were “pit bull mix,” attacked Garcia. He was taken to a hospital after the attack but died of his wounds. Cartwright reportedly told authorities he did not own the dogs and that they were strays. However, investigators later learned the Cartwright owned all seven dogs involved in the attack, reports say.in Houston that her grandfather was a “joyful” man.
