The one-time President told interviewer Lex Fridman that he would happily release the footage in a new, wide-reaching interview two months before the US elections

Donald Trump has promised to release new UFO footage if he is elected president for a second time in a sensational new interview.

But, in a departure from other recent rallies and public interviews, Mr Trump briefly touched on the US's decades-long fascination with UFOs - unidentified flying objects. The country's government has, in recent years, released footage capturing fast-moving objects above its national territory, and has faced calls to continue doing so.

And Mr Trump agreed to aid in the push for additional footage in a rambling response, telling his interviewer: "Oh yeah, sure, I'll do that. I would do that. I'd love to do that. I have to do that." Mr Trump claimed that he had faced more pressure to release files pertaining to the death of ex-president John F Kennedy, who was assassinated in 1963.
