He wants his fellow 2fm Breakfast presenter to lift the glitterball trophy in March, but he also wants him to have a few stinkers on the road to success on the talent show.
Donncha told RSVP Live: "I was delighted for him but I was shocked. I wish him nothing but the best because he is genuinely one of the soundest guys you could come across."I want him to do so well, but I am also looking forward to the ups and downs and I hope he has a few stinkers too I will be on the floor.
The RTÉ star added: "I think his pro partner Emily Barker will do a great job with him. I just hope that he does better than my former teammates Tomas O’Leary and Peter Stringer." Carl and Doireann will have busy weekends preparing and starring on Dancing with the Stars, but there will be no changes to 2fm Breakfast Monday to Friday. Donncha is well aware though that he needs to step up his performance on air.
"It will be hard for them on a Sunday night and keeping it going into the week. We are lucky that we all love presenting the radio show because that makes it easier."
