The Christmas season in Houston will be a lot brighter this year when City Lights Downtown Holiday Magic transforms downtown into the ultimate holiday destination, complete with eight themed villages with holiday markets, ice skating with Santa and more.
Beginning Nov. 18, Houston First and Central Houston will transform downtown Houston into a holiday destination called City Lights Downtown Holiday Magic.The Christmas season in Houston will be a lot brighter this year when City Lights Downtown Holiday Magic transforms downtown Houston into the ultimate holiday destination.
The experience is open to the public and is primarily free. There will be eight unique, themed villages across downtown complete with holiday markets, a hot chocolate bar, roaming carolers, ice skating with Santa, movie nights and the Texas’ biggest mistletoe installation. Festivities are scheduled to kick off at 5:30 p.m. Friday, with a ceremonial lighting on the plaza at Avenida Houston. The light show is slated to last through Jan. 2, 2023.“This will be an exciting holiday season as downtown Houston transforms itself into a signature wonderland unlike anything we have seen in years past,” said Michael Heckman, CEO of Houston First Corp., in a release.
Benefitting the Alley Theatre’s educational community and artistic initiatives, a display of 30 wonderfully festooned Christmas trees will appear in the Grand Holiday Window at the George R. Brown Convention Center facing Avenida de las Americas. Adding to the ambiance is the Avenida Concert Series with live musical performances. VisitThe Marriott Marquis is bringing back Texas Winter Lights, an interactive walk-through or float-under lights experience at Altitude Rooftop & Pool.
