Dramatic scenes were pictured on Thursday night as fire crews blocked off a road as they tackled a huge fire at a derelict nightclub. Stamford Street Central, in Ashton-under-Lyne, was closed off by emergency services as the fire service attempted to bring the blaze under control.

Adjoining Booth Street was also closed off, with fire crews remaining at the scene for around two hours. The emergency services were called just after 6.15pm. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “Just after 6.15pm on Thursday 29 September, fire crews were called to reports of a fire at a derelict industrial building on Booth Street, Ashton.
