Scott P. Lieberman, 61, of Franklin Lakes, was charged with second-degree reckless manslaughter in the death of Albert Schnellbacher, of Bergenfield, on June 25, according to investigators.

Lieberman and his passenger were taken to a nearby hospital where they were treated for injuries not considered life-threatening.when he was hit by the other vehicle. A State Police crash report said the driver told investigators he saw the SUV enter the intersection from a stop sign and attempt a right turn and that the collision was unavoidable.
Robert Linder, an Englewood attorney representing the Schnellbachers, said the victim lived with his wife and was involved with his family and community.
