A driver pursued by authorities in Wyoming died Thursday afternoon in northern Colorado when the vehicle crashed into a ditch.
The crash happened at about 2:45 p.m. on U.S. 85 in Weld County, according to the Colorado State Patrol. The highway is closed in both directions near Eaton.A trooper and an Ault police officer deployed stop sticks and the suspect driver swerved to avoid the apparatus and hit a CSP vehicle, causing the patrol vehicle to roll. The trooper in the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure.
The suspect driver’s vehicle ran off the roadway and crashed into a ditch, the release said. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died in the crash.
